Congratulations to Juniper Post’s sound editing team for their

“Rising from Ashes is a feature length documentary about the first Rwandan national cycling team in their bid to make history and represent their country at the 2012 Olympics.
Competing in a white man’s sport, reserved for the privileged, a rag tag group of cyclists coached by the first American to ride in the Tour de France, are transformed into a powerful symbol of hope for a country recovering from one of the world’s most devastating genocides.” – IMDB
“Rising from Ashes was one of the most difficult films I’ve worked on. There was constant noise in Rwanda. While working with our team at Juniper we were always having to think about how the sound design was working to be an intricate part of the story telling process. Too much, and we lost the sense of Rwanda. Too little, and it made the topic feel empty. I believe sound is often more important then images as it allows the audience to connect in a unique way with their own experiences. The sound design that’s come together on this film is probably one of the aspects I am most proud of. Just listening to the film I hope tells a story on it’s own.” – T.C. Johnstone, Director
